Varsity Club Restaurant @ Bankers Life Fieldhouse

Conseco Fieldhouse

The Varsity Club restaurant at Bankers Life Fieldhouse was a fantastic surprise. Managed by Levy Restaurants, from the wait staff to the food and the atmosphere you won’t go wrong bypassing some of the other restaurants in downtown Indy and heading right here for a spectacular meal.

Kenny Harper

The restaurant is located on the second level of the Fieldhouse. Once you pass through security and have your ticket scanned on the main level, turn to your left where there are elevators immediately on your left-hand side. There is an elevator attendant that can direct you; there are also signs that can tell you where you need to go to get to the Varsity Club.

Once you walk in there is a hostess (or two) that will greet you. Inside there is a bar area, dining tables and counter-height table and chairs that look out over the arena. The lower level seats that look out over the court are usually reserved, but the upper-level seats have just as good of a view and are not always reserved.

The restaurant does have an à la carte menu if you get there after the beginning of the game. If you get there before (or after for that matter), you can eat from a buffet and the food tastes absolutely wonderful. They have a chef that really knows how to cook.

On the night that we were there, Kenny Harper, was the meat slicer. A nice man who loves his work and is happy to help you with any food questions you might have. The buffet is setup in multiple areas, the meat is at one station, they have Mexican food at another station, cheeses and fruits at another and an assortment of entrees at another. This may change depending on the event.

You won’t need to hurry to eat your food either; the buffet will stay stocked up until the end of the third quarter. If you’re accustomed to eating arena food when you go to a game, give the Varsity Club a try. The price of the buffet will run around $30/person. You can order a dessert for $7 more. It’s well worth the price.

Varsity Club at Bankers Life Fieldhouse

With a view like this you might think you'd need to rent a suite to watch the game, but that's not actually the case at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Dining at the Varsity Club on the second level (Krieg Devault Club Level) will give you some of the best views of the action and one where you won't go hungry or spend your hard-earned money on regular arena food.

Boomer the Pacers mascot

You never know who you might run into at the Varsity Club. While we were there the Pacers mascot, Boomer, came through.

The entire restaurant has TVs located throughout the bar and dining area so you won't miss a second of the action. If the game you attend is happening while another high profile event is happening, such as the NFL playoffs, some of the TVs will be tuned into that action so you can keep up with all of the games.

All in all, we were very impressed with our entire experience here. I also had an opportunity to meet Chad, the manager of the restaurant. So, Chad if you're reading this, you've done an outstanding job and we appreciated the hands-on service and your attention to detail.
