What you can find in Ashburn Alley…
If you’re making your first visit to Philadelphia or the Phillies stadium, you’ve GOT TO TRY a Philadelphia cheesesteak. They don’t get any more authentic than Campo’s and Tony Luke’s. Both are located in Ashburn Alley.Players that have played in an All-Star game are also honored here in an All-Star Walk that runs the length of Ashburn Alley. Any Philadelphia Phillies player since 1933 will be found here.
The
former Phillies outfielder, Greg "The Bull" Luzinski, has a
restaurant in Ashburn Alley too called Bull's BBQ.
It’s southern-style
barbecue ribs, turkey legs, pork, beef and chicken sandwiches and
"Bulldogs" which are polish sausages or kielbasa.
One of the newer concessions in the Phillies stadium is a pizza stand called Seasons Pizza. The name says it all! It took the place of Peace A Pizza a few years ago.
If you’re dying for a hoagie, there’s Planet Hoagie. I haven’t tried one of these yet, the name sounds kind of “hoagie” to me. Sorry!
Ashburn Alley has video games too. There’s a place there just for you called Games of Baseball. They also have a “run-the-bases” game you can play with the Phillie Phanatic, video trivia games that you can win prizes playing and a "Ring 'Em Up" game where you throw a ball at images of a catcher.
If you like sandwiches and finger-foods, try Harry The K's Bar and Grille (named for late Phillies broadcaster Harry Kalas). It’s a bar and grill built into the bottom of the scoreboard.
Located in right-center field
are the bullpens. The layout at the Phillies stadium is a bit different
than at most ballparks. The bullpens are bi-level with
the visitors bullpen on top that allows the fans to get very
close to the players. Fans are allowed to heckle the bullpen pitchers but they must keep it clean.
The section above the bullpen is closed to the public about 30 minutes prior to the start of the game, but re-opens at the end of the game.
The Bleachers can hold up to 199 people while the entire Rooftop can accomodate up to 500 people. This area is similar to the rooftop views outside Wrigley Field in Chicago.
And, for the big topper, as the fans walk into
the ballpark, large 10'x5' baseball cards are displayed of the Phillies
starting lineup for the day inside the left field gate. There's something in Ashburn Alley for every baseball fan!
